Laying Pellets should only be fed to hens once they have started to lay eggs. The balance of protein, calcium and other vitamins and minerals will encourage their egg laying abilities, while extra calcium added to the laying pellets help ensure that the eggshells are crisp, clean and crunchy. Pellets hold their shape nicely, which means that there is less wastage if a feeder is knocked over by accident.
